In the ‘Fiddler’ Crowd, Far From the Home They Love

Why I do what I do?

Why I must travel to a distant land,

Far from the home I love.

That lyric, from one of the most poignant songs in “Fiddler on the Roof,” had special resonance for members of one recent audience.

For World Refugee Day last month, the producers invited 500 refugees from around the globe to see the show at Stage 42.

Also on site: the illustrator Christopher Noxon, who interviewed attendees to see how their own tales dovetailed with the story of Tevye and the townspeople of Anatevka. Here’s what he found:
